Kay Cooper Memorial Scholarship
Each year the Kay Cooper Memorial Scholarship is presented at the NAIW/IAIP Florida Council Meeting state convention in the autumn. It is awarded to a qualified member of NAIW to encourage professional development. The scholarship waives the registration fee for the recipient to attend the three CPIA certification classes in Florida.
History
Kay Cooper, CIC, CPIW, was an active member of NAIW/IAIP in Florida and a strong advocate of continuing education, professional development and the PIA of Florida. Kay passed away in 1986, but before she died, her hard work, determination, and professionalism made her a great example for others in the insurance industry.
In 1988 the Kay Cooper Scholarship was established as an annual award by PIA with the cooperation of the NAIW/IAIP to help others pursue their professional goals.
Eligibility
Candidates for the scholarship must:
1. Be a current member of NAIW/IAIP;
2. Have never attended a CPIA class;
3. Have been active in the insurance industry for at least two years (however, a license is not required);
4. Be currently employed in the insurance industry or in insurance education
5. Have shown a commitment to continuing education and professional development.
